Bar and grill now open

November 5, 2010

A new bar and grill recently opened in Monmouth, giving more of a variety for college students. Petey’s Pub and Grill opened on Thursday Oct. 22, on the corner of Route 34 and Main Street right in front of the AmericInn Hotel.

The owner, Kevin Cerar, is not a new comer to the restaurant business. Cerar also owns the Barnstormer Steak House in Monmouth. Besides that, Cerar’s parents were in the restaurant business, so Cerar always knew he wanted to open his own restaurants.

Petey’s is open for both lunch, and dinner, and on Friday and Saturday nights Petey’s has extended hours until midnight. The restaurant also has an appealing atmosphere, complete big screen televisions playing the latest sports games.

Cerar said that since Petey’s is still new, he has not figured out any specials yet, but he does have a few favorite dishes. Cerar recommends that Monmouth  students try the loaded turkey club, the tenderloin or the fried chicken. Petey’s sells itself as having affordable prices and Cerar also mentioned some potential plans.

“We don’t have any specials yet,” stated Cerar, “but I plan to get a buffet going soon for the college students. Petey’s is close. We have excellent food at a great price. It’s a lively place here.”

Petey’s has only been opened for two weeks, so Cerar apologized during the interview for a long wait during supper rush hours. All the little details of the food business still need to be straightened out.

“We are still working out all the little quirks, because we are still new,” said Cerar.  “I would like the college students to come out and give me some input. That would be greatly appreciated.”
