Zumba: dance your way into shape

Looking for a fun way to exercise is sometimes a difficult task. Zumba fitness is not only a fun way to exercise, but it helps achieve the results you’re looking for.

Although everyone wants to get in shape, a lot of people have a hard time motivating their bodies to exercise. Exercise is not always fun— but it can be if a person decides to exercise in a way that will be enjoyable for them.

Zumba is not just a dance class. It also ties in fitness, giving the participant a full body work out from arms to abs to legs. For instance, when I took the class the instructor always told us to squeeze our abs together for certain dances. Also, because it’s a full body work out, on average, a participant loses 400 to 600 calories per session.

Zumba fitness helps inspire people to get in shape and learn a couple new dance moves. My mom, aunt, cousin, and I all joined Zumba fitness for the summer and got a couple laughs and in better shape. Although the experience can be quite embarrassing at first, it became more enjoyable once we realized that all the other women were as uncoordinated as we were.

According to zumbafitness.com, since 2001, more than 12 million people have taken weekly Zumba classes in over 110,000 locations across the world.

A warm-up and cool down is also performed in each class to help its participants stay flexible and in shape. This is what makes Zumba a great exercise because warming up, cooling down and stretching are all important parts of a strenuous exercise. My body was still sore after the first couple times going which proves that Zumba can be quite the work out.

Not only is Zumba a full body workout but everyone of all shapes, sizes, and genders can enjoy it. During the summer that I took the class, there were a couple of men who took the class with me and they enjoyed it just as much as us women.
