SPECTRUM event: Day of Silence / Night of Noise

April 12, 2013

SPECTRUM is hosting a Day of Silence / Night of Noise according to President Katie Struck:

“The Day of Silence started in 1996 as a student led movement to create safer schools for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is April 19. Monmouth College Spectrum is encouraging people to wear purple on that day as the recognizable color against LGBT bullying in schools and to be silent for the day as a way to show the way that victims of bullying are silenced. Then, at 7 p.m. in the Underground, we will break the silence by hosting a concert and open mic.

Speaks Like Silence, a local band with Monmouth College student and lead singer Timothy Yates, is performing first, and then anyone who wants to perform on the open mic is welcome. We want to invite Improvigasm, Sassy Lassies, Aaron Fry and the Scotsmen to perform.
