Advice with Some Spice

October 4, 2013

I have been losing interest in my current major for some time now and I am looking to change my major. I am not sure what I want to do and would like your spicy advice!

Paprika: Well my friend, you have come to the right spicy lady! Your girl Paprika has all the answers for you! First you need to ask yourself, what are my interests? Where do I see myself in the next stage of my life? I’ll be honest with you, when I came to college, all I could think about was getting my MRS degree or becoming a stay at home mom with no kids. That all changed when I chose majors that I actually have interest in! Find your hobbies and talents and hopefully the answer will come to you! If you are still confused about what you want to do, talk to your friends, professors or the Wackerle Career Center (shameless plug to go see those beauts about your life). I hope you find what you are looking for my friend, whatever you do, I’m sure it will be great! Especially since you go to a fine institution called Monmouth College! Woot Woot!

Peppercorn: Good thing you’ve come to the right place with this question! I’ve been around the bend a time or two and have changed my major about three different times. College is a time for tons of change, and chances are you’re not going to know what you really want to do until you’re immersed in your classes. If you’re finding that classes in your major aren’t capturing your interest, don’t waste your time. Really do some soul searching to find what you’re interested in and where you see your life in the next 5, 10, twnety or more years. If that still isn’t doing it for you, I would suggest talking to your advisor or other professors. Paprika also brought up that Wackerle center which is a great resource! They have tons of resources and can help you find where you’re meant to be! College is all about experiencing and finding out who you truly are. Go out there and find that future you. DREAM BIG!
