Fighting Scots attend March on Springfield
October 23, 2013
Scots use their fight in the battle for marriage equality. On Tuesday, Oct. 22, students from Monmouth College joined over 1,000 others in Springfield to participate in a rally for marriage equality. Tuesday marked the day that legislators returned to the capital to prepare for their next session. Students were able to speak to their representatives about the passage of the marriage equality bill and participate in other activities. The main focus of the day centered on the march around the Capitol, which was preceded by several speakers, including U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D). The Illinois House of Representatives have yet to call the bill in question to the floor.
