Golf Teams Closing Out on High Notes

Men’s golf finished off their fall season on a high note. They played at the MacMurray Fall Invitational in Jacksonville, IL on September 20 and then at the Midwest Region Classic in Green Lake, WI the following weekend.

The Scots brought two teams to Jacksonville. Nate Jacobs tied for 5th at the meet with a 76 followed by three men who finished in the top 20. Luke Kreiter rounded out the first team with an 83 which put Monmouth’s first team 5th in the team scorings. Monmouth College White finished 7th as a team. They were led by Jordan Junker who tied for 9th overall with a 77.

The Scots started off slow on the first day, finishing the day in 22nd place overall. Jacobs led the team’s scoring with a 78. Day two of the meet the Scots rebounded as they were led by Drake Decker who shot a 75 on the second day and finished tied for 30th overall with a final score of 156. The Scots would place 14th place at the end of the meet.

“Day one was a little rough as a team,” said Jacobs. “We were happy with day two because we did a good job of bouncing back and showing teams like Carroll and St. Norbert that we can play.”

The Midwest Region Classic was the men’s final fall meet, and now they will look forward and start working towards spring season.

Women’s golf also had their meet this previous weekend as they made a strong showing at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Fall Invite. At the end of the first day the women were tied for 10th place as Kate Ryan lead the team with a score of 89, and was closely followed by Carly Gonet (90) and Korri Crawford (92).

The second day of competition went even better for the Scots as Crawford shot an 88, followed by Ryan, Sandrock, and Rodgers who all shot 89 The Scots held off St. Norbert who was six strokes back as the women finished eighth at their final meet before they head off to Rockford, IL for the Midwest Conference Meet from October 2 – October 4.
