Mason jar lantern

November 13, 2015

Supplies:
A mason jar
Holiday scrapbook paper or tissue paper
Mod podge
Foam paint brush
Decorative straw, twine, or ribbon

Step 1
Clean the outside of the mason jar to make sure there is no residue.

Step 2
Begin by ripping up the holiday paper of your choosing into pieces.
The more jagged the better.

Step 3
Dip brush into mod podge and put a thin layer of directly on jar. Wait until mod podge is slightly sticky then apply paper over top.

Step 4
Paint thin layer of mod podge on top of paper. Smooth paper layers onto jar. Repeat until jar is covered and allow jar to dry overnight.

Step 5
When the jar is dry, tie decorative straw around the top of jar.

Step 6
Add tea light to jar if desired.
Voila! A cute holiday lantern.

Helpful Hints:
The larger the pieces, the easier it will be to apply to the jar.
A sponge brush can be used, but painting the mod podge with your fingers is easier.
If decorative straw isn’t available, use ribbon instead!
