Around The Kilt

February 5, 2016

Description: Every week, we debate a sports topic. This week, the writers state their case for the winners of Super Bowl 50!

Super Bowl 50 is shaping up to be one intense matchup pitting arguably the best quarterback of his generation in Peyton Manning against an up-and-coming star in Cam Newton.

Carolina had a stellar regular season this year going 15-1 and their moment has not slowed down one bit into the playoffs. The Broncos had a spectacular regular season as well going 12-4 and have continued to build momentum.

Although the Carolina Panthers have been dominant to this point, the Broncos will come out on top. The Broncos performance this postseason hasproved they deserve redemption after their pummeling two years ago.

My guess for the end score: Broncos 31 topping the Panthers at 24. Manning will hang it up with one more ring around his finger.

Both teams have proven that they are deserving of playing in the super bowl; however there can only be one team that will lift up Lombardi’s trophy. My prediction is the Denver Broncos will take down the Carolina Panthers by 14 points this Sunday.

Denver’s defense is loaded with talented players like corners Chris Harris and Aqib Talib and a corps of linebackers that features sack machine Von Miller opposite a future Hall of Famer in Demarcus Ware and inside linebacker Danny Trevathan.

The Broncos’ defense is one of the best in the league and did a great job stopping the Patriot’s offense. In my opinion, the Patriots are a tougher team to play the Carolina panthers. With Payton Manning’s veteran leadership and a stout defense, this is Denver’s game.

It’s time for Cam to dab on the critics and on Manning’s fairytale ending.

The Panthers will take down the Broncos in the Super Bowl, this Sunday. Newton will make Manning 0-3 against quarterbacks not named Rex Grossman in the Super Bowl.

On paper, the two teams are really similar. On defense, it’s a matter of which talented linebacker in their prime will help the future hall of fame veteran get their first ring.

On offense the Broncos do have the edge in the skills position of wide receiver, but the Panthers have the edge at the tight end position. Both teams have a true franchise quarterback under center to throw to these weapons.

The only problem for the Broncos is that the Panthers have a way better Cinderella story in Michael Oher. What’s even better is that one text from the dab machine got him here. Take that critics.

The Carolina Panthers were doubted the entire first half of the season. Critics often called them “the worst undefeated team,” but things have changed with only the Super Bowl remaining.

They have clearly been the dominant team during the last half of the season and the playoffs.

Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos has also been doubted throughout the entire year. He has easily had his worst performance of recent years. He missed a couple of weeks towards the end of the year, but has led his team victory every week since returning.

Cam Newton on the other hand is looking for his first ever Super Bowl ring and is playing like he wants it more than anyone else in the league. Both quarterbacks display excellent leadership both on and off the field, but I believe Cam Newton will edge this one out with an incredible defense backing him up.
