Baseball fever has struck in full force as players have finished reporting to their Spring Training assignments for the 2016 season. While pitchers and catchers reported on the February 18 and position players on February 22, the players will have just two short weeks to shake off the dust and get ready for live action.

First pitch is scheduled for March 1. Games will take place throughout various locations within the Cactus League in Arizona and the Grapefruit League in Florida.

Is it finally the year for the Cubs? According to ESPN, the Cubs are entering Spring Training as a favorite to win the World Series. The Cubs are at 4-1 odds to win it all according to multiple Las Vegas scorebooks.

This gives Cubs fans hopes that the 107 year World Series drought will soon come to an end.

They landed two all-star players in Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward while also gaining experience in the bullpen with John Lackey. These new faces will be joining a stacked roster including Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant, National League Rookie of the Year.

“It’s going to be an interesting spring training,” said Cubs manager Joe Maddon. “We have highly accountable guys and they’re self-motivated. That’s a great place to start from.”

It could be a big year for Chicago fans on the south side as the White Sox are also picked to finish among the top teams in the league.

Frazier adds a powerful bat and solid glove to their lineup. The left side of the infield will be rounded out by 37 year-old Jimmy Rollins who will add experience and an experienced glove to the White Sox lineup.

“Being from New Jersey, I talk a lot, so that’s a little bit of it, but you try to lead by example,” Frazier said. “As a good leader, you need people behind you to back you up. You can’t do it single-handedly.”

While baseball is a hard game to predict, analysts try to predict the top teams coming from each league at the beginning of Spring Training.

USA Today has predicted that the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros will be the top three teams coming out of the American League.

Analysts have pegged the Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants have been the top predictions from the National League.

Spring Training is just the start of the season so baseball fans will have to wait till October to see if these predictions become reality.
