The Scots would lead the entire second half getting up to as big as a 19 point lead with just 2:41 left in the game. Knox wouldn’t lie down though as they made five threes in the final two minutes and eventually narrowing the lead to just six points. The Scots would hold on though getting a nice conference win.
Monmouth would also face off against Beloit College later that week losing a close one 63-61. It was another fantastic battle of Midwest Conference basketball and the Scots fought hard. The Scots would score first but that was pretty much the only time they lead the entire game. The Scots kept Beloit within shouting distance with a fairly defensive game as the halftime score would be just 30-28 Beloit.
Beloit would get out to a 10-point lead in the middle of the second half but Monmouth would continue to fight throughout the half and around the seven minute mark would bring it back to even. With 3:54 left in the game Monmouth would take a 1-point lead from a jumper by Austin Holman. Unable to hold that lead though the Scots would end up losing by just two points 63-61.
