Market Alley Wines free event

March 31, 2017

Market Alley Wines will be catering to Monmouth College students on Thursday April 6. From 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. owner Susan Schuytema is opening her bar to allow those who are 21 and older, with identification, to experience a free wine tasting and learning opportunity. Not only will she explain the different types of wine, but will also be showing how to properly pour drinks into the appropriate glassware. Afterwards, everyone is encouraged to relax and unwind in the laidback atmosphere Market Alley has to offer.

Erected in 2011, Schuytema opened Market Alley Wines with two goals in mind: own her own business and do something she loved. Now a successful business owner, she has expanded her shelves by offering a wall of bourbon, ever-changing, hand-selected wines, and a micro-brew of sorts, offering specialty beers from near and far. MAW, as it’s affectionately known as, hosts live entertainment with bands scheduled every weekend and some week nights. Every Tuesday is a game night with over 500 to choose from and the first Wednesday of every month is open mic night. Adult wine classes, as well as Painting and Wine with Basia are also proffered.

Located on the square, just off of East Broadway and South Main Street, the wine bar is nestled in the historic Market Alley between The Alley and Woodshed bars. Operating hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 6:30 P.M., 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Fridays, and noon to 7:00 P.M. on Saturdays. Hours are extended on nights with live music. Market Alley Wines is closed on Sundays and Mondays but can be contacted for scheduling special events.
