On April 22nd, the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alpha Deutron Chapter held a dedication for their new house on Broadway. Over 160 people came out to celebrate their new house. Alums came from as far as California. This dedication included speeches from students and faculty. Jessica Irons ’17, past chapter president gave the welcome and the Thanks and Acknowledgement at the end. The current college president, Dr. Clarence Wyatt gave introductory marks, Dean Masood presented a message from the administration. Michelle Merritt ’89, who is the Associate Dean, read us a Declaration of Purpose. A current student Katherine Hinman ’18 read the invocation and Kelci Foss ’18 accepted the key to the house with Beth Black, Fraternity President. Gail Owen ’74 gave both “The Charge” and “The Act of Dedication” Polly Timmerman gave us the House Blessing and the current chapter member lead everyone in “On the Heart of Each Sister.”

After the ceremony, guests could tour the house and enjoy snacks on the tennis court in a tent. “It was fun to get to know some Kappa alums and have them tell their Monmouth stories,” says sophomore Isabella Glazer ’19, “two alums I talked too really showed me that Kappa isn’t just for four years, but it’s for life.” In the house, guests walked around the new house and was given tours by some of the members. They could look at the different rooms, scrapbooks, and the many awards they won through the years. They are now able to hold chapter meetings and sisterhood events in their new home. “It is warm, welcoming, unique, and beautiful—much like our members,” Madeline Neal ’18 current chapter president says, “It is everything we could have hoped for and more.” Inside their new home also has a Donor wall. It states all the donners that have contributed into giving the members a new home. Congratulations again Kappa Kappa Gamma on your new home.
