Back to school tips for Academic Success

September 8, 2017

It’s that time of the year again: back to school. Although most of us wish it was still summer, we need to accept the fact that we are now all back on campus and classes are in full force. Whether you are a first-semester freshman or a first-semester senior, sometimes we all just need a little reminder on some back-to-school tips. First and foremost, …
Don’t Be Gross

As blunt as that sounds, there are over 1,000 students walking around campus, so it is very likely that you will get sick at some point during the semester. With all of those people around, it’s crucial to wash your hands as much as possible and practice clean hygiene. Doing so will lessen not only your own chance of getting sick but everyone else’s chances of getting sick.
Get Sleep

As much as you want to hang out with your friends on the football field until 3 am (me freshman year), you will definitely regret not getting enough sleep the next day during your 8 am class or 6 am workout. Even if you don’t have class until 11 or 12, getting enough sleep at night is so important. Just be smart about it; one-hour naps in between classes aren’t always what’s best for your body- even if they feel like it.
Don’t Procrastinate

Procrastination is a concept I still have yet to grasp completely. However, if you can master NOT doing it, your future self and grades will thank you!
Get Involved

There are so many clubs to be a part of on campus; go find where you will fit in. Trust me, being busy is much better than being bored in your dorm room!
Reach Out If You Need Help

This is the one I want to stress the most. If you are struggling with classes, sports, relationships or anything else, DO NOT be afraid to reach out to someone. We all have our problems and sometimes need someone to lean on or guide us through it. Just remember it’s okay to find the help if you need it!
