Spooky movies to get in the Halloween Spirit

October 27, 2017

It’s spooky season! Although it is the end of October and chances are high you have watched Hocus Pocus on repeat, you may want to see something a little different! It’s never too late to find a new spooky season favorite. In no particular order, here is a list of movies bound to get you in the Halloween mood!

1. The Babysitter (2017)
This new Netflix original is about a babysitter that’s part of a satanic cult. Together with her friends, they will stop at nothing to keep a kid quiet. Seriously funny but doused in blood, this new movie could be a new favorite for years to come.

2. The Corpse Bride (2005)
A dead bride marries a very much alive groom when he was practicing for his wedding to someone else! Is it really Halloween season without a Tim Burton animation or two? Voiced by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, this Oscar-nominated animation will have you singing along and binge-watching Coraline and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

3. Lights Out (2016)
Don’t be afraid of the dark. If you ever had to sleep with a nightlight on as a kid, you might have to again. This scary movie brings your childhood fears to life and shows you what can happen when the lights go out.

4. The Human Centipede (2009)
Absolutely cringeworthy and not for the easily queasy. You’re lying if you said you didn’t watch this creepy movie in your friend’s basement in high school. But in case you really didn’t, a weird scientist takes three unfortunate souls and fuses them together in the grossest of ways. If for some reason you’re into that, there’s two more to watch.

5. Carrie (1976)
Not the new one with Chloe Grace Moretz, but the original with bad special effects. Carrie White is a shy teenage girl who doesn’t have many friends. Her religious mother controls every aspect of her life until Carrie’s breaking point, where she unleashes her powers on everyone who did her wrong.

If for whatever reason these movies don’t quite do it for you, Netflix has a whole section dedicated to Halloween favorites. From family-friendly movies to movies that will make you want to sleep with the lights on, your options are endless. So grab some candy and someone to hold you tight when you get scared and get to watching! Happy Haunting!
