Around the Kilt

November 10, 2017

While the NFL season is already halfway over, the picture for who will hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy seems as murky as ever. Teams across the league have shown flashes of dominance, yet have also had their fair share of struggles throughout the first half of the season. While the Philadelphia Eagles have impressed thus far, I find it very difficult to select them as the team that will win the Super Bowl. Carson Wentz has played great, but he is only in his third season and I don’t think he is ready to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory yet. It is with much regret that I have concluded that the New England Patriots are poised to once again win another Super Bowl. They had early season struggles but have appeared to shake those off and return to their dominant style of play putting them near the top of the AFC standings.

We are halfway through the NFL season and things have been unpredictable, to say the least. But it’s never too early to pick a Super Bowl winner, and if I had to pick a team today, it would have to be the Philadelphia Eagles. Before the season, I would have picked about half of the NFL to win the Super Bowl over the Eagles, but many teams have underachieved the first half of the season. The Raiders, a team I thought could contend in the AFC, are 4-5 nine games into the season. The Patriots lost two of their first four games, and I’m not bought in that they can contend for a championship this season. Then there’s the Chiefs, who started out 5-0 but have lost three of their last four games. Another reason why I’m picking the Eagles is because the NFC is very weak this season, so it could be an easy road to the Super Bowl for Philadelphia.
