Semester Review

November 17, 2017

2017 is quickly coming to a close which means finals are right around the corner, Thanksgiving is on the ravenous student’s mind, and Christmas is the motivation to make it to December. But before all of these events begin to unfold, let us not forget what has happened from the beginning of the school year up until now.

The year started out warm, hopeful, and eerie all at the same time. August and September gave hope that a new school year would promise new beginnings and old habits dying. Boy, that is far from the truth. The only good thing about the first month of school was the weather and the lack of mid-terms. October was particularly forgiving in terms of weather, which makes many believe a cold winter is coming. Speaking of which, did you all see the set up for season eight of Game of Thrones? Holy moly I cannot wait for the next season, which sucks even more because it is not going to be released until 2019.

Another television show that blessed our brains was season three of Rick and Morty finally being released. It was widely loved and created an intense fandom for “Pickle Rick” and Szechuan Sauce. Seriously. Go look up how much people are selling individual packets of Szechuan Sauce on Google. Aside from television, October brought a pretty lively Halloween weekend at MC. Unfortunately, the Bowers Hall Council got into some hot water because the lounge got a little out of control at a certain point. It’s all about the memories, right?

If you read last week’s edition of The Courier, then you will be well aware of Cuffin’ Season. Maybe you are into that kind of thing. I am not here to judge. Word to the wise. You do not want to get cuffed to the wrong person just because it is cold outside. Just saying.

Who can forget about Homecoming? Seeing the alumni once more, as well as the Football team easily winning the Bronze Turkey (again), created a strong sense of nostalgia on campus that reminded us when times were simpler. When the current seniors had no worries of graduation and finding a job or grad school, but hey, we all need to grow up eventually. It is important to emphasize that the second to last semester for the class of 2018 is almost complete. Use your time wisely and finish this semester strong. Senioritis is one hell of a condition but what’s worse is not graduating on time and no one wants to see that happen to anyone.
