Meet The Courier Staff

January 26, 2018

Last minute submissions, a variety of articles, and numerous edits create chaotic Thursdays for Copy Editor, Quinton Kaihara. Just a sophomore, “Q,” as he’s most often called, reads every article to make sure it adheres to the AP style of writing, most often used by journalist. Though it is stressful, he’s able to stay “super informed.”

Hailing from Chicago, Q’s sister was a junior at Monmouth when he began to apply to colleges. Offering him the most money (duh), he’s now a Noble Scot, majoring in Political Science with minors in both English and Psychology. Outside of The Courier, he’s “running around campus like a chicken with its head cut off.” Involved in “too many” activities, Q is also Vice President of Phi Delta Theta, President of Pain is Temporary, a Stockdale Fellow, writing tutor and a member of the Rotaract Club. But don’t be intimidated; Though he may look mad at all times, he’s really just plotting his next move or deep thinking about what to eat.

Despite being an underclassman, Quinton’s future plans are to survive the sophomore slump. “It’s real y’all,” he adds. “Hopefully, I’ll further my education through a graduate program or land a solid job.” If he had a boat, he would name it “The Quinton” because “I love myself that much.” And when asked “Why’d the chicken cross the road?” he answers “In hopes it’ll pay for college, y’all know what I’m talking about.” Yes, Quinton, we definitely do!
