Spring break staycation

February 23, 2018

While not all of us are looking forward to 80-degree weather, sandy beaches, and blue waters as far as the eye can see, we are more than ready to be home sweet home for spring break. There is an insane amount of coastal destinations that are about to be flooded with college students ready to let loose, but there is a multitude of reasons why heading home is an equally sweet option.

1. Internships, baby. I, for one, am more than ready to start my mini week-long internship and gain some real-life work experience. Breaks like this are valuable in figuring out where you are headed in the future.

2. Work, work, work, work, work. I know all of our bank accounts have been drained by late night Taco Bell runs, online shopping, and weekend splurges, so what’s better than a week-long opportunity to give your bank account a little life? Working for even a short time can help you survive one more half semester until summer jobs.

3. Fam bam. Despite what we may say aloud, I know most of us feel those tiny pangs of homesickness and, especially with midterms hitting hard, a need for that special hug only mom can give. I’m not sure that beaches beat a week of much-needed family time.

4. Fur babies. A whole entire week of unconditional love and cuddles from your pets? How about yes.

5. Home cooking. There is truly nothing better than coming home to REAL food. After living off of fast food, pizza, and the caf, there is nothing more delicious than a plate of mom’s homemade goodness.

6. BED. YOUR OWN BED. Enough said.

7. No classes? No problem. A week of no classes means a week of less stress. Going home for the break means finishing the Netflix series that homework has been distracting you from and catching up on sleep to get rid of that lingering Monmouth plague.

While beaches, parties, and travel may be the perfect answer for some, others need this break for some serious R&R. Happy Spring Break!
