Scots play in final home game

April 20, 2018

The women’s lacrosse team played well in their three games this past week but ultimately came up empty in all of those. They first faced-off against Illinois Institute of Technology as the Scarlet Hawks got off to a hot start, scoring the first five goals before Monmouth’s Kara-Jade Gordon got a shot to go at the 19-minute mark of the 1st half.

The Scots would about trade goals back and forth with the Scarlet Hawks, but it wasn’t enough and would lose 14-8. Kara-Jade Gordon found the back of the net six times and assisted on two goals.

In the second game of the week, the Scots would battle against Concordia University where they would lose 10-15. The Scots struggled again to keep their opponent off the board early and would go down 6-1 early on in the game.

Monmouth scored back-to-back goals later on in the first half after a goal from Angham Jaradat and then another goal just one minute later from Kara-Jade Gordon. Gordon finished with five goals on the night and Jaradat finished with an impressive three goals.

In Monmouth’s final game of the week, they played against Augsburg College. Augsburg got off to a hot start scoring just 55 seconds into the game. Four more goals would proceed after that, as they would extend their lead over the Scots, 5 goals to none.

Kara-Jade Gordon would net a goal, ending the shutout with 22 minutes left in the half. Just seconds later Gordon would score another goal, cutting the lead to just three goals. The Scots would eventually fall short and lose by a score of 3-16. Gordon would finish with three goals for the game.

The Scots will look to bounce back this weekend in Wisconsin. On Saturday, Monmouth will face off against Concordia University before taking on Beloit College on Sunday afternoon.
